Towering at 6’3” in boots, Serafia (pronounced sah-RAH-fee-yah) is a world-class singer/songwriter with influences that brilliantly span across country, americana, roots blues and more. Vocally, her distinctive rich texture and surgical delivery, plus 4 octave range, give her an unmistakable sound and style in country music. Serafia is determined to be part of the wave of Black Country Artists and Black Country Singers who are paving the way for other artists to share their musical gifts on major stages.
Serafia was born in a small town in Northern Iowa. She was adopted at birth and at 3-years-old, her father a preacher, her mother Filipino immigrant scientist, and her fellow adopted Korean brother, moved their family out West to a small rural community outside the famous farming and rodeo town of Salinas, Ca.
Considered a vocal prodigy as a child by her music teachers, Serafia had perfect pitch, intonation and an ear for music that spanned far beyond her youth. In her late teens she moved to Austin, Texas and began her career as a musician. Serafia got her start as a professional singing in the bars, hotels, venues and restaurants Austin, Texas is famous for and worked many odds jobs to keep herself afloat which she pursued her dreams, including being a back up singer for The Chainsmokers, a Bud Light and Jager girl and underground illegal poker waitress.
In 2023, she went on her first tour with Nashville’s The Black Opry--A musical collective highlighting black musicians in country, americana and folk. Serafia attributes her “mixed” heritage being ½ Texan and ½ Californian as what gives her sound style and uniqueness. Serafia has sang the National Anthem for several sporting events including NFL, NHL, MLB, UT Sports and F1. Her music is featured on the Netflix Western film, The Bygone.
